How It All Began
The Full Story
My name is Jessie B. Gussack. I'm an artist, mother and traveler. My entire life has been filled with art. I'm a textile artist and a photographer. My mother and father were both artists. My mother was a calligrapher and textile artist and my father was a fine artist, painter and photographer. My father's photography was what piqued my interest in taking photographs. I remember poring through all of his photographs and being fascinated with the colour, clarity and detail. He made the mundane seem bright and colourful and fascinating. I wanted to take photographs just like his. When I was 8 years old my beloved grandmother gave me a 110 film camera. From then on, it was a love affair with the camera... I took photography in high school and spent hours in the dark room. When I finished high school, I travelled extensively through Europe. I rode solo through much of France for nearly 6 months. I worked on some photography while living in Edinburgh, Scotland. Upon my return to Canada, I held several small solo photography shows. I also entered my photos into many juried art and photography shows. My photography took a hiatus while I worked on my textile art (which can be seen at jerseylovey.com). Recently, I traveled to New York City and was inspired once again. My current focus has been on beautiful historical buildings and homes as well as the clean lines of contemporary design. I wander my city streets in search of beauty that catches my eye.
From behind a lens, I can see it all, in full colour and in crystal clear focus.
