    Rain, Rain go Away?!

    May 5, 2017

It's been raining for what seems like 4 years.... but I'm a very superstitious person and I hate to say stop raining for fear of, you know, it stopping. Forever. Anyway, it's making everything so green and shiny... Emerald City-like. I haven't been doing quite as much walking but I'm getting out still...

    Reflecting on the Rain

Spring in Ontario is so unpredictable so I just try to go with the flow and try to get out as much as I can. Seeing the city turn from shades of grey and brown to brilliant greens and exploding pops of spring colours is invigorating.

One of the many highlights of spring.

With the weather being so dreary and wet, I've tried to focus on a few new subjects. The houses are a little tougher to photograph this time of year because the leaves are unfurling... so amazing! Taking photographs changed the way one looks at everything. Trying to see the interesting in the mundane... it's like looking for a treasure and sometimes you find one...

This sweet little speckled egg nestled on this leaf...

I don't normally walk through the parks, I find the streets and houses more interesting, but I walked to Gibbons park yesterday... it's a beautiful serene park. As I walked along the paths I realized how lucky we are to have such a beautiful park like Gibbons. It's such a big park in the middle of the city. I grew up walking along the shores of our Thames River... searching for the roundest stones to skip along the water, the frogs, the minnows... walking in the park imparted a beautiful, serene feeling I don't get walking the city streets. I really felt thankful...

This Birch was so beautiful and so big!

The "new" Gibbons Bridge over the Thames.

I remember the old bridge over the river... they used to remove it every fall and leave it on the shore and put it back after the spring thaw and when the river was down. I guess putting a new bridge in was the best thing.

    One of the Fantastical Willows

I'm betting this guy could tell a few gnarly stories.

There are old memories in Gibbons Park and, of course, we've forged new ones for our kids.

Take a walk in the park, your mental health will thank you...
